What are some interesting consumer court cases?

A student Bought An iPhone 5S From Snapdeal Only For ₹68!

Yeah ! you read it right .

A B Tech student from Punjabi University recently ordered an iPhone 5S 16 GB off of Snapdeal and walked away with an offer of a lifetime. Originally worth ₹28,999, Nikhil Bansal paid an amazingly peanut-sized ₹68 for the high-end smart phone. No hacks, pure luck!

Bansal spotted an offer of a 99.7% discount on the phone and took it.

Perhaps, a technical snag, but when he spotted an iPhone 5S 16 GB being offered on the e-commerce website with an epic 99.7% discount, he didn’t waste a moment before he placed an order for the product. He ordered the iPhone 5S for Rs 68 on February 12 and waited. And waited. And waited – the phone never came, because it might have been a technical snag rather than a great Snapdeal discount.

Then, He took Snapdeal to court

Filing a consumer court complaint in Punjab’s Sangrur district, he alleged that Snapdeal refused to ‘honor the deal’. Not only did the court order Snapdeal to sell him the iPhone 5S for Rs. 68, but the e-commerce giant was also made to pay a Rs 2,000 penalty

Snapdeal challenged the verdict in a consumer forum, and lost again.

Snapdeal contested the decision in state consumer forum and fighting back, backfired, this time being ordered pay a fine of Rs 10,000 to close the case.

And we’re cheering him on – it’s the perfect consumer lesson to the e-tailer, infamous for sending rocks and wood to customers.
